We write in response to your June 6, 2019 request for information pursuant to the Rhode Island Access to Public Records Act (APRA). Your specific request is noted below along with our corresponding response.
Pursuant to RIGL 12-25-30.1 and the Access to Public Records Act: I respectfully request the full disclosure of any Application for Compensation made by [withheld] under criminal complaint number: [withheld]. In addition, please provide any other Application for Compensation made by this same individual in any and call cases- both past and present- for criminal injuries compensation. As said statute specifically states: "The application and the notice of award or denial shall be deemed public records."
The Office of the General Treasurer does not have documents responsive to your request.
Please note that the Office of the General Treasurer received your first request, identical to the one above, on May 2, 2019, and responded to you via mail on May 2, 2019.
If you contend you have been denied access to public records, pursuant to R.I.G.L. § 38-2-8, you may appeal this decision to Amy L. You may also file a complaint with the Department of the Attorney General, 150 South Main Street, Providence, RI 02903 or the Rhode Island Superior Court of the county where the records are maintained.
